Nook for Two ("Nook", "we", "our") is a private shared space for couples. Your privacy is fundamental to how we build the app.
Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:
- Account information — When you link an Apple, Google, or email account, we store your authentication identifier and email address (if provided).
- Content you create — Messages, photos, memos, calendar events, and places you add within the app are stored on our servers to sync between you and your partner.
- Photos — Photos you upload are stored in their original resolution. EXIF metadata (including location data, if present) may be extracted and stored to organize your gallery.
- Location data — If you grant location permission, we use your current location to help you add places to the map. We do not track your location in the background.
How We Use Your Information
- To sync your shared content between you and your partner in real time
- To authenticate you and restore your account on new devices
- To provide app functionality (chat, photos, memos, calendar, places)
Who Can See Your Data
Your data is shared only with the partner you are paired with. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Third-Party Services
We use the following services to operate Nook:
- Supabase — Database, authentication, and file storage (hosted in Sydney, Australia)
- Fly.io — WebSocket relay server (hosted in Tokyo, Japan)
- Google Maps — Map display and place search
- GIPHY — GIF search within chat
- Apple / Google — Authentication providers
Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If you unpair or delete your account, your data will be removed from our servers.
Your Rights
You can request export or deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
Children's Privacy
Nook is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app.
